Le Porte del Silenzio(Le Porte del Nulla/The Door to Silence) Synopsis: Melvin Devereux, a Louisiana businessman, is driving home from visiting his father's grave when he is cut off by a speeding hearse. His journey home turns into a game of tag with the hearse, and Devereux begins to realize the body in the hearse may be his own.
Notes: This was Fulci's last completed film, adapted from a story in his collection Le Lune Neri called Le Porte del Nulla. It's a shame Fulci didn't get the chance to end his career with Wax Mask (produced by Dario Argento): Le Porte del Silenzio is a lethally boring film, and a lousy Last Word. The protagonist rarely leaves his car, and the "surprise" premise is so obvious it's almost offensive. Besides: who names their hero "Melvin"?
